Wow what a day we had!!!

My sister Kim and I just spent an amazing day at the Elkhorn Flea Market!

Just call us the Picker Sisters!!!

This was one of our better flea market excursions.  We started shopping at 8:30am and did not stop until 5:30pm.  (yes the flea market is actually over at 3pm but we don't leave!)

By the end of our day we were soooooo exhausted.  It was in the 90's & sunny and we had walked and lifted things for 9 hours.  It was a hard days work, but we had a blast!!!

Here are a few things we saw.....

What a funky couch, hey?  It was gone at the end of the day so someone did buy it!!

I thought this was a great idea.  An old weathered frame with vintage postcards behind it.

Really cool blue metal carts! There were 2!  One for me and one for Kim.  This was one of those times I could not decide.  She bought her cart and I kept thinking and thinking and thinking.  It is really cool, but I was just not 100% sure where I would put it.

SO I did not buy it.  Kim did as you can see!  I thought about it for the rest of the day but left without it.  I am still thinking about it of course!!!  It is pretty neat!

If you ever need yard sticks, a flea market is the place to go!  :)

And of course we had to stop by and see our friend Hippie Tom!!

Got to love Hippie Tom's merchandise!

Here is some of his stuff he sells.

I thought this yellow table was so pretty for a patio or sunroom.

I am not sure how I feel about the Velveeta cheese box!

First time I ever saw an old swing like this one at a flea market!  It was sold!

This vendor has such cool rusty old stuff!  We love all her things!! She is who we named the Expensive Lady but we liked her more this last time!

Here we are all loaded up!! See the awesome blue lockers on the right?  Love those!! Kim is going to use them for mudroom storage.   Check out the cool typewriter table on the end.  It was FREE!!

Here are some things that I found!  A pile of old metals crates, an old window, and a really old beat up bench!  Window & bench were FREE!

Another rusty thing, I was on a rusty kick I guess!  I love this metal bin!  It is covered in shellac (is that how you spell that??) so it is nice and shiny and protected.  I got plans for this little guy!

Big plans for this door too!  Cool thing about this door?  It was FREE!!!!

Another old worn barn door.  This is just what I needed for the finishing touches in Bryce's room!! Oh and it was FREE!

Love this old card catalog drawer!  $5.00.  The clear glass bottle is an old baby bottle-$1.00.  The amber bottle was $1.00 as well.  So pretty!!!

We learned a little something this last flea market.  It you wait long enough vendors start throwing stuff out!!!  NEVER EVER thought we would garbage pick, but garbage pick we did!! It was so much fun!!!  One persons trash is for sure anothers treasure!!  :)

My sister's flea market finds!

While we were celebrating Easter in Wisconsin, I managed to get a few pictures of my sister's house.  I wanted to share some of her really cool projects!

This is the table I mentioned in my last post.  The metal frame is an antique wash tub.  She bought the empty tub and had a vision for a table.

She had bought a few pieces of barn wood at another flea market.  She was not sure what she was going to do with it at the time.  She ended up using that for the wash tub table. She cut a piece of the wood in half and fit it into the wash tub.  Usually she has pretty stuff on the table, but we were in such a hurry taking the pictures we forgot to show how it looks all pretty!

Now this industrial table is MY FAVORITE!  I also love how she got the table.  It was a really hot day at the flea market and the man who was selling it was practically naked!  We were a little creeped out by this.  BUT the naked man sold her the industrial cart for $8.00 so we were OK with him! Again she had a vision for this table. I love the light wood with the metal!

****don't mind the little shoes on the floor.  Kim has little kids so we were just kicking stuff out of our way!  :)****

I also love the little orange metal stool!

This next idea I am stealing!  I think it is so cute.  She took an antique frame and added twigs from her yard.  She used a staple gun to attach the twigs to the back of the frame.  I think it looks great with her wall color!

Here is just a cute little table she painted blue!

This chair was brown with a rattan seat.  She spray painted it white and used some really pretty fabric.  Love it!

This is just a quick snapshot my sister's flea market finds.  When she unloads her car it looks like a huge pile of junk (which I guess it kind of is....) but the end product is so neat!  I love that it is all original and sooooo creative!

Before and After living room~

I don't know about you, but I love looking at before and after pictures of rooms! It is my favorite part of decorating.  My living room has gone through quite a few changes over the years. The biggest change has been this last one!

Here is my living room before.  The paint color is Baguette by Sherwin Williams.  I loved this color, and used it in several rooms in our home.  Most of the room was brown with red accents.  I loved warm and cozy at the time!

Here is the after.  I first lightened up the wall color.  I went a few shades lighter on the same Sherwin Williams paint strip.  This is Whole Wheat. I also added cream curtains in place of the deep red ones.  I swapped out a few accent tables and end tables.  Adding the light yellow table and the glass table helped soften the room.  Both tables were flea market finds.  I then added blue accents with a pop of orange!

I used cream, gold, and blue pillows in place of the red and brown ones.

I added the white weathered table and white accents by the front window.  Spray painting the two chairs a creamy white and swapping out the fabric gave the chairs a more casual look.

My taste is changing from warmer tones to cooler ones.  I did not think that would ever happen because I really loved warm and cozy.  I still feel cozy in this room, but the brighter lighter colors make me sooooo happy!  :)

Our Home.......

Living Room
My homemade industrial table!

Living Room

A mix of flea markets finds and things bought from my favorite stores!

I love my little yellow table.  I found it at a flea market.  It came with glass on top which I removed and used for my industrial table.

This is one of my favorite areas in our home.  The chairs used to be dark brown with fancy formal fabric on them.  I painted them white and replaced the fabric with painter's drop cloth.  Found the VERY distressed table for a steal at a flea market!

I love this worn table, antique lamp, and the owl!

I have not posted anything in quite awhile!  I was in the process of redecorating our den, getting a new computer and trying to upload pics off the old one, and just all together BUSY!  I decided to start posting some pictures of our home.

The room above is our living room.  It has gone through many different styles.  The latest is a little of this and a little of that. This is one of my favorite rooms in our home.

Everything in this room has special meaning to me.  Some things were handed down from family, some from my flea market expeditions, some were re purposed, and some just stay with me because I love them!

Hope you enjoy looking!
