Girls Day Out!

Today I spent the day with some wonderful friends at the Kane County Flea Market.

The flea market started yesterday and I was not able to make it. I was hoping there would still be stuff left today!  It actually was a little sparse but I think that was because it was a holiday weekend, and it was a rainy one too.

It was fun to go with friends and see the flea market from their perspective.  I know how Kim & I shop and I am used to that.  It was neat to see what interests others too!

Here is some of the cool stuff we saw today!

Pretty fall mums and outdoor decor.  I do not usually look at the outdoor things too often.  I saw some really cool things today!

Lots and lots of white frames!

I thought this was really neat.  I love the color too!

There was something about this white weathered lantern that I just thought was so cozy.

Awhile back I had recovered a bench with fur but ended up taking it off because I just was not sure about the fur.  Saw this little guy today!

And this one......

I had given my fur from my bench to my sister Kim and she made this cool chair.  Hmmmm, maybe I should have kept my fur!  :)

I love the soft blue color of this little table.  With the burning candles on top it is all just so pretty!

Have you ever seen a lamp this tall????

Just some beautiful things!

This barn wood table was AMAZING!!!!

Beautiful milk glass lamp.  It was $85.00 otherwise I might have brought it home with me!

See the little glass things in the middle bin?  My friend explained that they were for serving salt in the old days.  You would serve the salt individually with a little spoon.  I have never heard of that, so neat!

More pretty things.....

These soy candles smell so good! The vendor had a Buttered Rum one burning and it was awesome!  Had to get one of those! I am a sucker for candles!

Cool wood file cabinet!

After a long day of shopping!  So much fun!  :)

Here are my finds.  I have some new plans for blue mason jars so needed a few more of those.  I got TJ some of his favorite spicy homemade pickles.  I love the silver little bowl, perfect for a votive candle!

So excited about this little milk glass lamp!

My friend spotted this vintage fan and decided it would not work in her space.  I had to get it!  It is blue, it works, and I got it for $17.00!!

All and all it was another great flea market day!  :)

Elkhorn Flea Market

After about a month of not having my lap top I FINALLY have it back.  It has had two new hard drives put in, a new mother board (whatever that is) and several other parts replaced.  It has been very very frustrating to say the least. I have been back and forth to the fix it place way too many times!! It is under warranty thankfully!  It seems to be doing ok now so we will see.......

I have also lost many pictures during this process.  This makes me very sad!!!  I have learned how important it is to back up things!

I am so excited to be up blogging again!!  :)

Two weeks ago Kim and I spent our Sunday at the Elkhorn Flea Market.  We were there from 8am to 6pm.  The flea market closes around 4pm but we never leave!!

Here is some of what we saw....

I thought this dresser was so pretty.  I love the lines and the color!  I am really liking the charcoal gray paint color!

I thought this chair was fun!  It was vinyl!

For some reason I am totally into milk glass now!  I was sooooo excited to find some!

These lockers were awesome!

This shelf is actually from Land of Nod so it is not an antique.  Kim has been wantingg one for awhile.  She was able to save almost $200.00 buying it at the flea market! I learned that when you sell things at a flea market you are only allowed a 10% of your items to be newer.  The rest has to be vintage.

I loved this buffet.  It is painted with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Emperors Red.  It was $350.00.

I loved this buffet so much that I bought it!  I love everything about it!  It was marked $260.00 then it was half off later in the day.  I ended up getting it for $100.00.  It is AMAZING!  I for now am keeping this one.  I have done some work to it which I will post later!

Of course our friend Hippie Tom was there.  We love that he calls us by name now.  :)

What is nice about flea markets in late summer are the fresh veggies!!

I am not going to lie, Kim bought this coat!  She loves vintage clothing!  The lady selling this coat said all she had to do was throw on a belt and SHAZAMM!!!  She did the "shazamm" with a few snaps.  We laughed about that the rest of the day!!

I thought this patio set was so cute with the fun washable fabric!

Another pretty patio table.  Fancy hey?

I thought this was interesting.  I think it is beautiful but they were asking $250.00!  I found an old door for free and I am doing the same thing to it with a can of Looking Glass Spray for $5.00.

I love looking at all the old lunch boxes.  I still remember my Holly Hobby one!

I love this old blue kitchen island!

We found this table with a built in fish tank kind of cool!!

This is how we looked when we left!  Don't ask about the front shelf you see.  It is going to be cool!!  :)

Here are my finds.....

This the buffet I fell in love with.

More blue mason jars.  I love these for outside with tealights!

Here is some of the milk glass I found.  So happy to have it! :)

I found these pretty metal mirrored trays for $3.00 each.

It was another awesome day at the Elkhorn Flea Market.  We had so much fun and left completely exhausted!

I have to say again how happy I am to blogging  on my computer!!  :) I have really missed it!

Antique Buffet!

Beautiful antique buffet for sale!  This was by far one of my favorite finds!

This piece works perfect as of course a buffet.  It would also work great as a tv cabinet or an entry way table.  Lots of storage space!

This piece is painted in Annie Sloan Provence.  It is finished with both clear and dark wax.

The top was left the natural wood.

$200.00

Thank you for looking!

Sorry this buffet has sold-more to come!!!

Re loved accent table!

I love this table!  Every piece I find is so special to me!  But like I said I can not keep it all!  My family already thinks I am a little nuts!  :)

This table has beautiful detailing!  Solid wood painted with  Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Chateau Gray.  It is finished with clear wax and some dark wax to accent the details.  It is also lightly distressed.

The Chateau Gray is a really pretty color.  It looks great mixed in with dark furniture!

Close up of the top.

Measurements: 27" high 32" across 20" deep

This re loved accent table is $40.00

Thanks for looking!!

Selling my creations! :)

Well, it has been awhile since I last posted.  First off we were on vacation.  We went to Hilton Head for a week of relaxing on the beach!!  Loved every minute of it!  I had brought my lap top with and half way through our trip it stopped working!  It would not stay on for more than a few minutes and then would shut itself down.  ugh!!!!!!  Thankfully it is still under warranty, but the bad part is they have to ship it out and it might take up to 3 weeks!  In the mean time I am trying to use TJ's lap top which is VERY SLOW and OLD!

I had mentioned a while back about a new venture I was starting.  I have decided to give painting furniture and selling it try!!  I have run out of room in our home to put new things, but I love finding old things and breathing new life into them sooooo much!

I have a few ways I am going to try this.  I am going to finish pieces and sell them, plain and simple.  I am also thinking of having some pieces that the customer can pick their paint color!  For now I am only going to paint with Annie Sloan since I know it works great!

I know Annie Sloans wears well too so will feel secure in selling that piece to someone.

I am pretty excited about this!  I will be even more excited when I get my lap top back and it doesn't take hours to load my pics!! :)

I am still going to be blogging about my flea market finds and my decorating adventures.  I will just add some cute things to buy now and again!

Here is my first one.........

I have to be honest. I was planning to keep this little beauty.  But as you know I have quite a few benches around here.  I am going to have to start parting with things so here we go!

This little bench is painted in Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Chateau Gray. It then has a coat of Annie Sloan clear wax on the top.

The bench is approx. 19" high and is 14"W X 17"L

Here is a close up of the top.

$20.00
